In 1944, Aquarium Products (or Aquarium, Inc. as it was known then) was a vision of Merrill Cohen's brought about by an avid fascination with fishkeeping. Merrill devised ways of caring for these delicate creatures. The first creation was Aquari-Sol, a revolutionary Ick (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) preventative treatment for freshwater aquariums. Aquari-Sol still remains a vital product in Aquarium Products catalog.

Innovations remained paramount in AP's growth by developing reliable, effective medications.

Merrill's dedication to educating fishkeepers and emerging hobbyists was born out of his passion for the hobby and his vision to advance fishkeeping.

Aquarium Products broadened its R & D efforts by developing effective ways to enhance and help maintain the aquarium's delicate biological balance. Biozyme, Genesis, & Crystal Clear were initial developments with C-100 and Safe Water later added to perform very unique and essential functions.

As product development advanced so did Aquarium, Inc. It grew into one of the largest, if we dare say the largest, distributor and importer of ornamental tropical fish & related supplies.Aquarium Products, in partnerships with many diversified joint ventures, resulted in such notable innovations as:

• The first All-glass aquarium
• The first silicone cement ~ a milestone in aquarium manufacturing
• Shipping fish in plastic bags

As Aquarium, Inc. t/a Aquarium Products fully came into its own as the leading distributor of freshwater and marine livestock and supplies worldwide. Aquarium Products was called upon to consult in product development initiatives & studies with numerous Universities, State Agricultural Departments, Fish Breeders, and Hatcheries to develop medications and equipment to enhance fishes aquatic environment.

AP continued growing our medications by introducing tablet medications. Clout, Fluke Tabs, and Furanase are preferred by most for treating anchor worm, fish lice, as well as an anti-bacterial treatment. AP was the first, and continues to be the only, US importer of Liqui-Fry from Interpet in England. Thus began a long and respected history with Surrey based pet product manufacturer. In 1999 Lawrence, PLC (parent holding company of Interpet, Ltd.) invited Aquarium Products to join their host of innovative and respected companies. The acquisition truly energized Aquarium Products continuing tradition of innovative product developments not only for aquatic hobbyist, but now all pet owners.

Today, at Aquarium Products, we're concentrating our efforts on developing new products including medications, water conditioners, care for aquatic plants, as well as a host of books and other informational products. Aquarium Products was founded on advancing the hobby of fishkeeping, and remains committed today to advancing that dedication.
