The Southwest Missouri Humane Society strives to adopt as many animals into new homes as possible each year. With nearly 17,000 animals coming through our doors each year we will nearly always have something that will grab your attention and your affections. Please give careful consideration before adopting a pet because it should be a commitment to last a lifetime.

Each pet, prior to adoption, is given its first set of basic vaccinations, first de-worming treatment, first ear mite treatment, and a flea and tick spray or bath.

All adopted pets are required to be spayed or neutered under Missouri state law. The cost of the surgery is included in your adoption fee. Therefore, all pets over four (4) months of age will be delivered by the humane society to a Springfield participating veterinarian for surgery before being released. All pets under the age of four (4) months are given a payment certificate and arrangements must be made before six (6) months of age.
